What a great year it has been for Grey's Anatomy star, Patrick Dempsey, as he not only made waves in his showbiz career, but also in his personal life as well. In fact, the 41-year-old actor has been named by People magazine as the "Star of the Year," as he received top honors for his accomplishments this 2007.Dempsey, who is known for playing Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd on ABC's Grey's Anatomy, has now become the face on the cover of the magazine's year-end issue, which contains not only the best but also the worst of 2007.This year brought Dempsey a full plate as he not only gained fame for his role on the successful ABC drama, but also in the Disney hit film Enchanted, wherein he played a single father and divorce attorney Robert Phillip. As for his life off-camera, the actor has well fathered twin boys, Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick, who were welcomed into this world just earlier this year."I'm just enjoying life more than I ever have," Patrick Dempsey told People. "I'm trying to enjoy the moment while it's here and to be able to provide for my family so that I can step away and enjoy raising them away from all this."Of course, things weren't as good as they are right now for the actor who has gone through his share of bad times. Dempsey appeared in a couple of notable '80s films such as Loverboy and Can't Buy Me Love, but after that, he was not able to further his career with more substantial roles. Moreover, his marriage to former manager, Rocky Parker, a woman 26 years his senior, also collapsed, leaving him in a bout with severe depression."It was a very difficult time. I was insecure. I felt I was no good," Dempsey is quoted as saying. "It took me two days to get psyched and it was very hard to stay positive. There were years when I wasn't working and people didn't care about me."This isn't the case now as it seems Dempsey has gone past those struggles and emerged as a stronger and happier man, not to mention a handsome actor and talented actor as well. Landing the role of McDreamy on Grey's Anatomy did give him a shot at success, and he captured fame, which in a way helped him put his life back together. He now happily resides with his wife Jill Fink, their twin sons and their older daughter, Tallulah Fyfe.

It's day number 17 in jail for 24 star Kiefer Sutherland who still manages to be a sought after actor despite him being out of the limelight and into the shadows of prison. In fact, award-winning actor has reportedly been swimming in fan mail from the moment he stepped into jail for his 48-day drunk-driving sentence on December 6 in California 's Glendale City Jail."The guy has been getting a ton of fan mail," John Bailan, a spokesman for the detention center reported. "Easily more than 100 letters a day. He certainly seems to have a lot of support out there."The fans' support for the 24 star has been overwhelming, as he spends his 41st birthday today behind bars, instead of the usual celebrity birthday bash in bars and the like. Sutherland will not only be spending his birthday in jail, but Christmas and New Year as well.The letters have helped Sutherland as it keeps him busy in his 31-day wait for his release. Meanwhile, he tries his best to serve the remaining days of his sentence by keeping himself busy with folding laundry and serving meals to fellow inmates.Bailan also said that the 24 actor has been a "model prisoner" since his entrance early in December."He's not happy to be here, but you can tell from his demeanor that he's sorry and takes responsibility for what he's done," Bailan noted.Kiefer Sutherland was arrested in September after he was caught driving under the influence of alcohol, following another DUI incident in 2004. He tested positive and way over the state's legal blood alcohol limit and was thus charged, but was released upon the submission of $25,000 bail. A month later, the actor pled no contest to the DUI charge and submitted himself to the 48-day jail sentence in a prison beginning early December. Sutherland opted to complete 18 days in jail during 24's winter break in late December and early January and return to jail after the production concludes. However, the production was put to a halt as the WGA strike ensued, thus Sutherland will be spending his 48 days in jail straight.

Surely, fans could not wait for The CW's One Tree Hill season 5, as it has yet to start airing next year. Meanwhile, the cast and crew took some time off to celebrate a fairly huge achievement. In this day and age of quick program cancellations, reaching a 100th episode to be aired is a great achievement for any program, and the cast and crew of One Tree Hill are happy to have attained this. Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Galeotti were only a few of the show's stars who attended the party in Wilmington , North Carolina to toast to the show's success.Representatives from The CW Source, a website exclusively for the all the news of the network's shows also attended the party to get an inside scoop on the red carpet arrivals. They were also able to get some video interviews with show stars Lee Norris, who plays Mouth, Paul Johansson who plays Dan Scott, Hilarie Burton (Peyton Sawyer), Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis) and creator Mark Schwahn. The show's celebrities mainly talked about their thoughts on the show and its success, its upcoming plotlines, and the dates they brought to the big event.Also among the interviewees was the "Ultimate One Tree Hill Fan" Eric Moler. Apparently Eric was so engrossed in his love for the show that he got one of Peyton's quotes tattooed on his back, and got star Hilarie Burton to sign it. Immediately after obtaining the signature, he got it tattooed as well. Now that is fan devotion.The CW Source offers the fans a wide range of video interviews from the event. In fact, more videos are constantly being uploaded, with the latest featuring the cast members hinting about One Tree Hill's upcoming season.One Tree Hill's 100th episode is set to air in April of next year.

Smallville star Allison Mack recently took a short break to cater to her other artistic skills such as film making. The young actress who plays Chloe Sullivan on Smallville took some time off to star in a short film entitled Alice and Huck, which was written by R.W. Gray and directed by Kaleena Kiff, two of Mack's best friends. The film is a labor of love, as she hopes to raise money to complete post-production work in time to sent it to various film festivals around the country. Fans probably couldn't wait to see Mack in the upcoming short, so a teaser clip has been released online.AllisonMack.com describes the movie as "a short film that explores desire and missed connections in a universe where it?s possible to try and try again."Moreover, Mack recently talked about the joy of making the film in a post on her official website. She wrote, "It felt so good to be a part of a project from its inception, to be a part of creating something from start to finish and really feel like I was a part of the whole process. I can?t tell you all how incredibly fulfilling this was. I so encourage all of you to be a part of something like this at some point in your life.
